Since 2010, our family-run rescue in Wichian Buri, Phetchabun Thailand has cared for abandoned, abused, injured, and unwanted animals — and we now need support to keep going.
Our Services
We rescue and care for abandoned, abused, injured, and unwanted dogs and cats, giving them a safe place to live. The shelter is currently home to approximately 80 dogs and 40 cats.
In addition to the animals living at the shelter, 20–30 stray dogs are fed regularly in the surrounding area. We provide food, daily care, and ongoing support to animals who would otherwise go without help.
Every effort is made to control the female population and arrange spaying wherever possible. This helps prevent further suffering and reduces the number of unwanted animals over time.

Us
Founded in 2010 by sisters Kh. Phetcharin and Kh. Duangpornour, family-run animal rescue in rural Thailand provides shelter, food, and care for abandoned, abused, and unwanted dogs and cats. Today, we care for around 80 dogs and 40 cats, while also feeding stray dogs in the surrounding area.
Housing
The growing number of rescued animals has created an increasing demand for safe and suitable housing facilities. The centre now requires a combination of individual and group kennels, shaded shelter areas, exercise spaces, and secure recreational enclosures to ensure the animals can live comfortably and safely. A purpose-built cattery was constructed to house the cats, however it now requires renovation and expansion due to the rising population.
In addition, several existing structures on the property need to be converted and upgraded to provide further kennel space for the dogs. The land was originally fully fenced, but sections now require repair and partitioning to create secure exercise areas, prevent animals from escaping, and protect neighbouring livestock. Continued improvements to the housing facilities are essential to maintain the animals’ welfare, health, and long term safety.

Funding & Operations
Wichian Animal Home is funded almost entirely through personal financial support from Kh. Phetcharin´s husband Mr. David Bryan Watts, whose overseas pensions currently cover the majority of the organisation’s operational costs. Monthly running expenses are approximately Baht 100,000 (around US$3,000), excluding additional maintenance, construction, and renovation expenses required to support the growing number of rescued animals.
Rising Daily Costs
Over recent years, the financial pressure on the rescue centre has increased significantly. The cost of animal food has risen dramatically, with rice prices doubling and commercial pet food increasing by approximately 30%. Veterinary expenses, medications, vaccinations, and spaying and neutering costs have also substantially increased, placing further strain on the centre’s already limited resources.
Future Improvements & Support
Construction and repair costs have also become a major challenge, with materials such as wood, steel, and concrete more than doubling in price. As a result, important projects including kennel expansions, cattery renovations, and fencing repairs have been delayed despite being essential for the safety and welfare of the animals. Continued donor support is therefore critical to ensuring the long term future and sustainability of Wichian Animal Home. At the age of 82, Mr David has limited eyesight and, for this reason, has arranged for his grandson Cameron to take responsibility for the administration and management of all contributions to the facility through a private PayPal account.
